The elf owl is the smallest owl in the world, standing just about 5–6 inches tall. Despite its size, it is a fierce nighttime hunter, often nesting inside abandoned woodpecker holes in saguaros.
Diet:
Insects such as moths, beetles, scorpions, and crickets.
Adaptations:
Nocturnal hunting reduces heat exposure
Uses saguaro cavities for shelter and nesting
